Pokemon and Evolution

Evolution Levels

For all Pokémon that evolve by reaching a certain level, take the level they evolve at in the video games (or in their official documentation, for Fakemon), divide it in half, and add five. This is now the level they evolve at. Do not round this to the nearest multiple of five. All other evolutionary requirements from the PTx PDF or their official documentation remains true.

Dramatic Evolution

When a Pokémon evolves in-combat, their very next action is especially successful. If their next action has a to-hit, it acts as a Natural 20, and rolls maximum damage (if applicable); if the action is a Skill Check, it acts as the maximum possible roll. This does not apply to any further actions during the combat or even that individual turn – you get one cool moment, in exchange for not evolving at the earliest possible convenience.

Pokemon and Equipment

CHANGED. Nevermind! Pokemon have all the equipment slots humans have, and can wear things even regardless of their body shape.

Unique Equipment and Items

See Unique Items.

Equipment Training

Prerequisites: Lv. 20
Cost: 2 Tutor Points
Effect: The Pokemon may have a second Item equipped. This item must follow all other rules for equipping items (must fit a body part the Pokemon has; must not double up on a single body part).

Baby Pokemon

See the AEB Baby Pokemon rules .

Freshly-Hatched Pokemon

For Pokemon whose Parents are Defined: The Pokemon hatches at the average level of all the parents at the time the egg was made. (If the data for their exact levels at time of egg-laying are missing, then you may use the levels at time of hatching with GM approval.)

For Pokemon whose Parents are Undefined: (Meaning, Pokemon Eggs you find out in the wilderness.) Use the Party’s Average Pokemon Level at the time the egg was found or acquired.

Tutor and Inheritance Move Changes

All Moves taught through Tutoring Features (Ex: Mentor’s Move Tutor and Egg Tutor, Chronicler’s Archive Tutor) now have prerequisites:

  • Pokémon under Level 20 may only learn Moves of an At-Will or EOT Frequency with a max Damage Base of 7.
  • Pokémon from Level 20 to 29 may only learn Moves with up to a Scene Frequency and max Damage Base of 9.
  • Pokémonn at Level 30 and above have no restrictions when being taught Moves through Tutors.

This applies to Inheritance Moves as well. If a Pokémon were to have Heal Pulse as its only Inheritance Move, that Move would be gained at Level 30 despite the Level 20 slot for Inheritance Moves being empty.

Edges, Feats, and Classes

Badge Edges

See the Badge Edges page.

Be a Pokemon

See the Be a Pokemon rules.

Edge: Object Empathy

Effect: You may communicate with inanimate objects to a limited degree. Inanimate objects typically only know about things directly relating to their existence and experience – for example, a paving-stone might know that someone stepped on it, and could identify the footprint, but could not describe the person making the footprint beyond that.

Feat: Form of the Dragon

Prerequisites: Surolam, Herald of Pride

Static
You learn the Move Scale Shield. (If you have already learned Scale Shield from another source, you may instead learn one Move from the list later in this feat, of your choice, that you may use both as a human and as a dragon.) When you use Scale Shield, as a Swift action, you may transform into your Dragon Forme. This transformation lasts as long as you have the Ability granted to you by the move Scale Shield; if that Ability is removed from you, then you revert from your Dragon Forme.

When you take this Feat:

  • Select one of Tough Claws, Serene Grace, or Pressure. You gain that Ability while in Dragon Forme. This choice is permanent.
  • Select two of Battle Cry, Dragon Ruins, Dragon Tail, Heedless Charge, Life Stream, Power Flow, Qi Flow, Twister, War Cry, or Wrap. You gain those Moves while in Dragon Forme. This choice is permanent.
  • Select two of Aura Reader, Gilled, Glow, Scent, Telepath, and Windshield. You gain those Capabilities while in Dragon Forme. This choice is permanent.

In addition to those benefits, while you are in Dragon Forme:

  • You become pure Dragon-type.
  • You gain the Drake Touch Capability, which allows you to make your Struggle attacks Dragon-typed.
  • Increase your size by one step, your weight by one step, and gain the Mountable 1 capability.
  • You gain the Sky 6 capability.

Pokeball Crafting

We’ll be using the AEB Pokeball crafting schema, found in the main rulebook, or here .

Further, Apricorn can be used as the full materials to make a fully-functional basic Pokeball with their specified modifier, or to add that modifier to an existing Pokeball. So, for instance, a Yellow Apricorn is enough material to make a Moon Ball, but any additional modifiers must be crafted with additional materials. You could then consume a Red Apricorn to also add the Level modifier to the Pokeball you had just made.

Apricorns, when planted, have a base growth of d2-1, instead of the listed d2-2.
